Karen Black (innate July 1, 1942) is an American actress, screenwriter, singer and songwriter.

She was natural Karen Blanche Ziegler within Park Ridge, Illinois, the daughter of Norman Ziegler & Elsie Reif. She attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, for two years.

Black so attend New York. She exposed drama using Lee Strasberg and appeared in the total of Off-Broadway productions. She was an understudy in the Broadway play ''Take Her, She's Mine (1961), and debuted in The Game room (1965), which she received good reviews for.

Black received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Rayette Dipesto within Five Easy Pieces (1970).

She won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress for 5 Easily Pieces, & she won the Golden Earth for Right Supporting Actress - Motion Picture for her role when Myrtle Wilson in The Great Gatsby (1974). She wwhen nominated for Right Motion Picture Actress - Drama for her role as Faye Greener in The Day of the Locust (1975).

She was too nominated for the Grammy Award for even Album of Best Original Score Written for the Motion Picture or Television Series for the film Nashville (1975).

She became exposed using Scientology in about 1978, but has since denounced a controversial self-help organization.

Black has experienced 2 married man, film writer Kit Carson (divorced), & film editor Stephen Eckelberry (married 1987-present). She & Carboy develop of these son, Hunter Carson (born December 25, 1975); & she and Eckelberry adopted of these girl at troika months aged, Celine Eckelberry (born December 1987).

She besides appeared on the TV series The Hundred Years (1967) as Marcia Garroway. & she has mass produced the total of guest starring appearances in popular shows, including The Big Valley, Mannix, Adam-12, Saturday Night Live, Murder, She Wrote and Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

Around March 2005, Karen Black received a Better Actress Award at the Fantasporto International Film Festival within Porto, Portugal, for her work in the film Firecracker (2004), in which she plays deuce roles, Sandra & Eleanor. She & actor John Hurt were both presented sustaining Career Achievement Awards too.
